RE:       Feasibility Study of the Warwick-to-Ephrata Rail/Trail

As you may be aware, Akron and Ephrata Boroughs and Ephrata and Warwick Townships have received a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (PA DCNR) for the purpose of conducting the above-referenced Feasibility Study.  The Study is intended to determine if it is feasible to develop the seven-mile, former Reading Railroad right-of-way into a trail system to serve the purposes of recreation and alternative transportation.  A map of the rail corridor is attached.

The purpose of this letter is two-fold.  First, it is intended to inform you that, as part of the conduct of the Study, the municipalities have formed a Study Committee that will meet on a regular, monthly basis, according to the attached Tentative Schedule.  Each Study Committee Meeting is open to the public.  In addition to the Study Committee Meetings, three Public Meetings are included on the attached Tentative Schedule.  For your convenience, these Public Meetings are highlighted in gray.  As a landowner neighboring the rail corridor, you are cordially invited to attend all of the above-referenced Study Committee and Public Meetings.  This will afford you the opportunity to become well informed on the project and to participate in the Study.  We particularly draw your attention to the First Public Meeting scheduled for June 22, 2006, at the Warwick Middle School in Lititz.  We will devote a significant portion of this Meeting to receiving your comments and questions.

If you are unable to attend any of the Study Committee and/or Public Meetings, please feel free to contact me for an update.

Second, by way of this letter, we wish to inform you that representatives of our Consulting Team, ELA Group, Inc. (of Lititz) and its subconsultants, will be on-site at various times during the conduct of the Study.  Their presence on the site is required so that they can inventory and analyze existing conditions.  If you would like to be notified prior to their entering the rail corridor where it crosses your property, please let me know.
